TEMPE, Ariz.--It was a blustery day in Tempe, Ariz., as the 27th-ranked Arizona State women's tennis team (7-2) defeated Sacramento State, 6-1, on Friday afternoon.
The Sun Devils swept in doubles with senior Sianna Simmons and freshman Leighann Sahagun earning the first victory for ASU. The duo defeated Katharina Knoebl and Sophia Lohscheidt by a score of 8-3.
In singles, the Sun Devils cleaned-up, taking five out the six match-ups. Senior Michelle Brycki handily defeated Sac State's Clarisse Baca 6-3, 6-0. The senior shut out the Hornet for the entire second set. Sixth-ranked sophomore Jacqueline Cako defeated Sacramento State's Tania Kapshai 6-2, 6-2 to take the third point of the day for ASU.
Tomorrow, the Sun Devils host the Gaels of Saint Mary's starting at Noon at the Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe, Ariz.
