PALOS VERDES, Calif.--The ninth-ranked Arizona State women’s golf team is tied for eighth after the opening round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif., Monday. The Sun Devils shot a total of 18-over 302 for the first round of competition.
For the second-straight tournament, sophomore Laura Blanco led the Sun Devil line-up in the first round of competition. Blanco shot a 3-over 74 in round one to tie for 22nd. However, it was freshman Emilie Alonso, competing as an individual, who carded the lowest round of the day. The freshman, who joined the Sun Devils in January, scored a 1-over 72 on Monday to finish the day tied for 11th.
The second round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge continues tomorrow at the par-72, 5,912 yard Palos Verdes Golf Club. Live scoring for the tournament is available at www.golfstat.com.
