Swimming and Diving Finish Strong in Arena Invitational, Arizona Diving Invite

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Arizona State swimming and diving team wrapped up this weekend’s invitational action on Saturday as the women and men swimmers finished second and eighth respectively at the Arena Invitational in Long Beach, Calif. and the Sun Devil diving team saw top-three finishes in the Arizona Diving Invite in Tucson, Ariz.

Senior Harrison Jones scored 452.60 points in the 3-meter diving championship at the Arizona Diving Invite to clinch first place. For the women, junior Hailey Casper and freshman Morgan Weller placed second and third in the 1-meter competition with 299.85 and 290.35 points respectively to finish the weekend.

The swimming team kicked off Saturday evening with a momentous victory in the 1650 free for Tristin Baxter, who came in at a time of 16:09.53. Shannon Landgrebe and Tory Houston finished second in the 100 free and the 200 breast for the women, who saw top-five finishes in the other three events of the afternoon to boost them to second place overall in the competition with 970 points.

On the men’s side, Alex Coci finished third in the 200 fly with a time of 1:47.17 before joining the relay team of Herbie Behm, Zac Dalby and Ryan Dignan to come in at sixth in the 400 free relay. The men scored 461 points overall on the weekend for an eighth place finish.

Arizona State returns to Mona Plummer Aquatic Center for a Pac-12 dual meet versus Utah on Dec. 16.
