AUSTIN, Texas--The 10th-ranked Arizona State women's golf team is tied for third place after the second round of the 39th Annual Betsy Rawls Invitational and was one of only two teams in the 15-team field to shoot under par on the day. The Sun Devils shot a 2-under 286 for a two-day total of even-par 576 (290-286), narrowing the lead held by Alabama and Florida to three shots.
Junior Laura Blanco shot the lowest round of the day for ASU, recording a 2-under 70 on the day for a two-round total of 2-under 142 (72-70). Blanco made the turn at even par, only to record birdies on 11 and 18 to go under par and is currently tied for seventh. Junior Daniela Ordonez is also keeping pace for the Sun Devils, shooting a two-day total of 143 (71-72), to tie for 11th.
The 15-team field for the tournament features five teams ranked in the Golfweek/Sagarin top-30: Florida (6), Alabama (9) Arizona State (10), Arkansas (22), Pepperdine (26), Auburn (27), Denver (31), Texas (34), UCLA (38), UNLV (40), Kent State, New Mexico, TCU, Tulsa, Illinois.
The second round of the 39th Annual Betsy Rawls invitational continues tomorrow at the par-72, 6,344-yard University of Texas Golf Club.
Texas' Longhorn Network will be airing abbreviated broadcasts of the tournament on Thurs. Nov. 8, with Part I airing at 1 p.m. and Part II airing at 9 p.m. Live scoring for the tournament is available at www.golfstat.com.
