SAN DIEGO, Calif.--The eighth-ranked Arizona State women's golf team is tied for second place after the first round of the Battle of Rancho Bernardo in San Diego, Calif. The Sun Devils shot a first round total for 7-over 295 to tie with USC and are two strokes behind first-place Tulane.
Senior Giulia Molinaro and sophomore Daniela Ordonez lead the Sun Devil line-up after shooting a 1-over 73 to tie for ninth place. Molinaro carded two birdies on the day, while Ordonez shot four birdies in the first round.
Sophomore Laura Blanco shot a two-over 74 to tie for 16th. Fellow sophomore Justine Lee is tied for 22nd after shooting a 3-over 75. Four out of the five golfers in the ASU line-up are sitting in the top-25 after the first round of play.
The tournament format was switched to 36 holes after weather suspended play on Sunday. The final round of the Battle at Rancho Bernardo concludes tomorrow at the par-72 Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Course.
