TEMPE, Ariz. – Another offensive showcase awaited No. 1 Arizona State Softball Saturday afternoon as they came out for their second game of the NCAA postseason to take down Long Beach State 8-0 (5) for their 23rd run-rule of the season. Dallas Escobedo took the win to move to 29-3 on the season while ASU improves to 52-6 while advancing to Championship Sunday.
The Sun Devils got sassy in the second inning again as they plastered five runs on the board via the long ball again as Sam Parlich went yard again for a two run shot before a walk to Alix Johnson and a single from Talor Haro set the plate for Katelyn Boyd to launch a two run shot off their favored ESPN cameraman in left field to make it a quick 5-0.
Dallas Escobedo was dealing again as she cruised to strike out eight 49ers in the outing while the Sun Devils chipped away at the scoreboard with an RBI double from Annie Lockwood to plate another one in the fourth before ASU finished it off in the fifth with a solo shot from Mandy Urfer and an RBI single from Katelyn Boyd to make it 8-0 and lock down the run-rule win.
The Sun Devils will take to the field again tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. where they’ll face the winner of San Diego State and Long Beach State in Tempe at Farrington Stadium.
