TEMPE, Ariz.--The Arizona State women's tennis (7-2) team defeated the Cougars of Washington State, 7-0, making a statement to open up Pac-10 play this weekend. The Sun Devils won every match on the after noon, including all three doubles games.
Senior Kelcy McKenna, playing in the No. 1 spot, defeated Elizabeth Fournier 6-3, 6-2 in the main court event. McKenna, ranked 17th, was back to top form for the meet after sitting out the dual to Texas for exhaustion. Freshman Jacqueline Cako, ranked 30th by ITA, defeated WSU's Luda Vasilieva, 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 2 spot. Sophomore Hannah James was first off the court for the Sun Devils, drilling WSU opponent Olga Musilovich, 6-0, 6-2 in the fourth spot.
Up next, ASU hosts the Oregon Ducks tomorrow at Noon MT at the Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe, Ariz.
