TEMPE, AZ--The Arizona State Women's Gymnastics team beat No. 13 Washington on home turf. The Gym Devils hit a season-high team total of 195.750.
On vault, Senior Brittany Schuett performed her season vault debut hitting an almost perfect score of 9.900. Freshman Samantha Seaman scored a season-high of 9.850. Callie Price hopped once on her landing posting a season-high 9.825. Beaté Jones took one large step back on her landing to score a 9.750. Carly McMahon took one step on her landing scoring a 9.700. Stephanie Hangartner posted a 9.700. The Gym Devils compiled a season-high vault team score of 49.025 taking the lead over the Huskies who scored a 48.675 on bars in the first rotation.
Moving to bars in the second rotation, Nickie Johnson nailed her routine tallying a career-high score of 9.875. Jones hit a season-high 9.825. Hangartner stuck her landing to finish a solid routine tying her season-high of 9.800. Sammie Seaman tallied a solid 9.775. Emily Warfield came in close to the bar on her first release leading her to miss the handstand on her straddle back. She posted a 9.525. Christina Salavec fell on her first release scoring a 8.650.The Gym Devils posted a bar team total of 48.800 while the Huskies hit a vault total of 49.300.
The Gym Devils competed on beam in the third rotation compiling a team total of 48.725. Salavec led the Devils nailing her skills hitting a career-high of 9.825. Jones continued to be a strong starter on beam tying a season-high 9.800. Madison Snowden hit a solid 9.725. Johnson hopped once on her landing posting a career-high score of 9.725. Reilly has a small wobble on series scoring a 9.650. Seaman fell scoring a 9.100.
Finishing the competition on floor, the Gym Devils nailed their routines to clutch the win. The Gym Devils hit a season-high floor total of 49.200. Davies hit her passes posting a career-high of 9.850. Schuett stuck all three passes hitting a solid 9.850. Jones hit her routine to post a 9.850. Salavec nailed her routine for a season-high score of 9.825. Johnson scored a solid 9.825. Snowden stumbled on the landing of her first pass but finished up with two solid passes scoring a 9.825.
Next week, the Gym Devils travel to California to compete against No. 2 Stanford on Sunday, Feb.18 at 2:00 p.m. PT.
