TEMPE, Ariz. - Sophomore guard Keala King scored a career-high 16 points and junior guard Trent Lockett collected his second career double-double as the Arizona State men's basketball team opened its 2011-12 season with a win over Montana State 78-72 at Wells Fargo Arena on Nov. 11.

The Sun Devils led by four with just over six minutes left in the first half before holding Montana State scoreless for more than five minutes. King punctuated ASU's eight-point scoring run in that span with a thunderous breakaway dunk as the Sun Devils took a 12-point lead into halftime.

The Bobcats battled back early in the second half, but a steal and dunk by junior forward Carrick Felix put ASU up 10 with just over three minutes remaining in the game. Felix followed that with a pair of free throws to give the Sun Devils a 70-58 lead with 2:46 left and they never relinquished their advantage.

King, who started the game off with a three-pointer just six seconds in, went 3-for-4 from the three-point line, and Lockett led the team with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and added four steals.

Sophomore forward Kyle Cain recorded 12 points and six rebounds, Felix added 13 points and a trio of steals, and junior guard Chris Colvin collected 10 points and five assists in his first regular season game as a Sun Devil.

The Sun Devils shot 80 percent from the free-throw line and all five ASU starters scored in double figures.

The Sun Devils face Pepperdine on Nov. 15 at 6:30 p.m. (MT) at Wells Fargo Arena.
