TEMPE, Ariz.—The No. 15 Arizona State women’s tennis team (14-5, 4-2 Pac-10) continued it’s campaign of shock and awe Friday as the Sun Devils once again downed the 13th-ranked Trojans, 6-1, at the Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe, Ariz.

In contrast to ASU’s come from behind 4-3 upset of USC on their home court, this match up was more dominant in fashion with Senior Kelcy McKenna defeating No. 1-ranked singles player Maria Sanchez.

McKenna, ranked 19th in the nation, handed Sanchez only her third loss of the season, defeating the Trojan, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4. The ASU senior’s upset of the top-ranked singles player in the nation set the tone for the entire match as the Sun Devils dispatched USC in five out of the six line-up spots.

USC’s Danielle Lao, ranked 26th in the nation, won the lone match for the Trojan as freshman No. 11 Jacqueline Cako retired due to injury mid-way through the second set.

The Sun Devils host No. 8 UCLA on Saturday with the match beginning at Noon. With wins over both USC and UCLA, the Arizona State has a chance to host its first NCAA regional since 2003.
