AUSTIN, Texas--The No. 28 Arizona State women's tennis team (6-1) defeated the University of South Florida, 4-3, on Saturday in Austin, Texas.

The Sun Devils started off the match claiming the doubles point with victories by the teams of Jacqueline Cako and Micaela Hein, and Hannah James and Kelcy McKenna. Playing in the No. 1 doubles spot, Cako and Hein defeated Rehberger/Bejikova, 8-6. James and McKenna dropped the USF team of Parker/Bonte, 8-5. The match-up between the undefeated team of Ashlee Brown and Sianna Simmons and USF's Parker/Bonte was unfinished do to a rain delay.

In singles play, Cako continued her winning streak to 10-straight matches with a victory over Ecaterina Vasenina, 6-2, 6-0. McKenna, playing in the No. 1 spot, defeated Irene Rehberger, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6 in the meet deciding match. Simmons also won her match, defeating Kate Parker, 7-5, 6-1. Both James and Hein dropped their singles matches to USF.

The Sun Devils are 6-1 on the season with their only loss coming in a 5-4 battle with 11th-ranked Miami. Senior Kelcy McKenna moved up the ITA singles ranking to No. 14, holding an 18-2 record on the season. Freshman Jacqueline Cako also entered the rankings at 44th.

ASU will face No. 33 Texas on Sunday in its last nonconference dual competition before the opening of Pac-10 season. Check in with thesundevils.com for event results.
