TEMPE, AZ--The Gym Devils fell to the Oregon State Beavers 196.950 to 194.800. The Gym Devils are now 1-4 this season.
Starting the competition on the vault, Atkinson nailed her vault tying her season-high of 9.850. Beaté Jones had a clean landing tallying a 9.750. Sammie Seaman had a small hop backwards after her landing posting a 9.725. Callie Price took too steps backwards on her landing tallying a 9.675 Carly McMahon scored a 9.55, taking one step forward on her vault. The Gym devils hit a team total of 48.550 while the Beavers totaled a 49.275.
Moving to bars in the second rotation, the Gym Devils compiled a bar team total of 48.550. Atkinson performed a flawless routine hitting a season-high of 9.875, tying for first place. Nickie Johnson hit her routine tying her season-high of 9.800. Jones stuck her landing posting a season-high 9.800. Christina Salavec nailed her routine to score a 9.800. Stephanie Hangartner scored a 9.275, after falling on a release. Emily Warfield fell on her straddle back scoring a 9.100.
On beam, the Gym Devils posted a season-high beam total of 48.825, the highest beam total this season. Seaman nailed her routine hitting a career-high score of 9.875. Snowden scored a career-high of 9.850. Jones hit her skills posting a season-high 9.800. Kelly Reilly tallied a career-high score of 9.800. Atkinson scored a 9.500 after taking a step on her series and had a hop on her landing. Salavec scored a 9.075 after falling on her front tuck.
Finishing up the competition on floor exercise, Snowden performed a near flawless routine to score a career-high of 9.925. Johnson nailed her passes to post a season-high 9.875. Salavec hit her passes to post a 9.775. Jones scored a 9.700 after stepping out of bounds on her last past. Schuett took a few steps on her first pass scoring a 9.600. Atkinson scored a 9.100 after falling on her last pass. The Gym Devils compiled a floor score of 48.875
The Gym Devils face the California Golden Bears next Friday, Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Wells Fargo Arena.
