The No. 29 Arizona State University women's tennis team fell 4-2 in their opening match to host No. 10 Georgia Tech at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The Sun Devils dropped to 2-1 while the Yellow Jackets are now 3-0.

Nadia Abdala and Hannah James were the two point earners for the Sun Devils. Abdala upset No. 66 Sasha Krupina in the No. 2 slot, defeating her in two tough sets 7-6 (7-2), 7-5. James moved to 3-0 in dual matches after defeating former NCAA Champion Amanda McDowell. The freshman came back after dropping her first set 2-6 to win 6-1, 7-5 in the final two sets. Junior All-American Micaela Hein put up a tough fight as she fell in three sets to Viet Ha Ngo in the No. 3 slot. Amanda Martin and Kelcy McKenna were both swept in straight sets. The match between Sianna Simmons and Lynn Blau was stopped after Georgia Tech claimed the win.

In doubles, Hein and Abdala handed Hillary Davies and Ha Ngo an 8-1 loss in the No. 2 slot. McKenna and James dropped their match 8-4 to Irina Falconi and Sasha Krupina while Simmons and Martin lost in the No. 3 slot.

The team plays No. 24 Alabama tomorrow to close out kick off weekend.
