Elina Eggers set a new Sun Devil dual meet record in the 1-meter to lead the Arizona State women's swimming and diving team to victories over New Mexico State and Northern Arizona. The Sun Devils defeated the Aggies 172-126 and topped the Lumberjacks 192-107. The Sun Devils end 2009 with a 5-3 overall record.

Eggers swept the springboard events for the second time this season. In only her third dual meet of her collegiate career, the 2008 Olympic finalist scored 339.90 to crush Trisha Tumlinson's five-year standing record of 326.35 on the 1-meter. She went on to score 327.85 on the 3-meter, taking first by just over three points.

The Sun Devil relay teams claimed both relays. The team of Jamie Martinez, Sara McDaniel, Caroline Kuczynski, and Katie Haron clocked in a time of 1:46.72 to win the 200 medley relay. In the 400 freestyle relay, Haron teamed up with Paige Schultz, Ashley Evans, and Samantha Caldwell to earn a time of 3:31.57.

Martinez outraced the 400 IM field, swimming to a time of 4:31.27. The versatile swimmer from San Jose, Calif., is currently ninth in the event on ASU's all-time list. ASU transfer, Ashley Daly, picked up a win for herself in the 1,000 free. The Washington native touched the pad at 10:28.41, winning by almost two seconds.

ASU's two freshman standouts, Shannon Landgrebe and Paige Schultz have continued to be two of the Sun Devils top-point-earners this season. This meet was no different as Landgrebe took first in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:53.39. Schultz topped Landgrebe in the 100 back, finishing in 58.49 compared to Landgrebe's second-place earning 1:00.35.

The ASU men's team will ring in the New Year with Carthage and St. Louis as they host the two schools on Jan. 3rd. Time is to be determined.
