The Arizona State men's golf team is tied for 13th after the second round of the NCAA Golf Championships as it trails leader Clemson by 15 strokes with two rounds to play. The young Sun Devils, one of just three teams playing three freshmen and the only team in the field without an upperclassmen, improved its score by 18 strokes with 5-over 293 on Thursday in the afternoon tee time. ASU is at 28-over 604 (311-293).

Sophomore Braxton Marquez shot a 1-under 71 and is at 5-over 149 (78-71) and tied for 24th.

Freshmen James Byrne is tied for 54th at 8-over 152 (78-74) along with sophomore Knut Borsheim (79-73).

Freshman Stephan Gross is tied for 70th at 10-over 154 (76-78).

Freshman Jesper Kennegard is tied for 85th with an 11-over 155 (80-75).

Thirty teams and six individuals are competing for NCAA team and individual titles at the Pete Dye redesigned Kampen Course, a 7,450-yard, par 72 venue at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex on the campus of Purdue University.

The third round of the NCAA Championships will begin with the top teams teeing off starting at 7 a.m. ET on Friday. Teams are competing for the top 15 spots in order to advance to the fourth and final round on Saturday after which the team and individual champions will be crowned.
