TEMPE, Ariz. - Down 4-0 after two innings, things looked dire for Mike Leake and the Devils on Thursday night against Stanford. But Leake shut down the Cardinal from then on, allowing Kiel Roling and the Sun Devil offense to come back and pick up a big 5-4 victory in front of 3,547 fans at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark. With the win, Arizona State improves to 24-10, 5-2 in the Pac-10.

Leake threw a complete game, the first of his young career, striking out eight while allowing only eight hits to up his record to 7-1. Two of the four runs he allowed were unearned.

Stanford scored two runs in the first and two in the second off Leake, collecting five hits in the first two frames. Leake would scatter three hits from that point on. That allowed the ASU offense to work their way back.

The Sun Devils pulled even in the fourth, scoring four times off Stanford starter Jeremy Bleich. Kiel Roling brought the first run home when he singled home Petey Paramore. Things because to unravel for the Cardinal after that, as a throwing error by Bleich allowed Ike Davis to score from second to make it 4-2. Bleich then uncorked two wild pitches, allowing Roling and Tim Smith to score the equalizers.

Roling knocked in the eventual game winner in the seventh, singling home Wallace to give ASU their first lead of the game at 5-4. Leake would strike out five of the final six batters to clinch the win.

Roling was 4-4 with two RBI and Petey Paramore went 2-3 with two doubles.

The Devils and Cardinal continue the three-game series tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. from Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark.
