Quoting ASU Head Coach Rob Evans
On second half run being down 13 points
"We just had to play defense. We were just letting them move the basketball wherever they wanted to move it. We got aggressive on the defensive end and we got some easy baskets on the offensive end. We talked a lot about winning the toughness points; that's rebounding and getting loose balls and I thought our guys did that tonight."
On the missed lay-ups
"It's a number of things. These guys are looking for shot blockers and those guys don't have shot-blockers, we kept telling them. Just go up strong and they were double pumping a little bit. We work on that every day and our guys just need to finish."
On young players learning from experience
"They're learning a lot everyday. I don't mind playing young guys, just not all at the same time. Tonight, we were forced to play a lot at the same time. I like to have a little bit of experience out there with them, but they're growing up. This game will definitely help them grow up."
Quoting Minnesota Head Coach Dan Monson
"I was just proud of our guys, especially being shorthanded in an overtime game. Adam Boone started cramping with about four minutes left in regulation after trying to chase Kevin Kruger around all night. It wasn't a perfect basketball game, but it reminded us of a road game against Nebraska last year when we were able to dig one out as a team. They made a shot at the end of regulation and there were a lot of reasons why we shouldn't have won, but our guys found a way. That's why you play preseason games; we're trying to create an identity and springboard off of that."
On free throws:
"In practice today, we did a drill where we tried to make 20 out of 25 as a team. We tried it about eight times and couldn't do it. I always say that free throw shooting is contagious. Making them is contagious and missing them is too. Today, we had a serious case of free throw disease and it spread like wildfire on the team... Guys really stepped into some roles tonight and I am just pleased to get out of here with the win."
