TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- Junior preseason All-American Travis Buck went 3-for-4 and four pitchers combined to lead the No. 9 Arizona State Sun Devils to a 13-0 exhibition win over a group of former Sun Devils in the annual Alumni game held Saturday afternoon at Packard Stadium.
Buck (Richland, Wash.) doubled and had two singled to lead the varsity squad to the commanding victory. Sophomore first baseman Joe Persichina (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.) added two hits and four RBI and redshirt freshman outfielder Rocky Laguna (Yuma, Ariz.) hit a two-run home run in his first at-bat as a Sun Devil.
Junior left-hander Brett Bordes (Mesa, Ariz.) started on the mound and gave up one hit and struck out two in three innings to record the victory. Senior preseason All-American Jason Urquidez (Simi Valley, Calif.) added four strikeouts in three shutout innings and sophomore right-hander Pat Bresnehan (Sherborn, Mass.) struck out two in his only inning of work. Junior college transfer Tony Barnette (Federal Way, Wash.) struck out five of his six batters faced in two perfect frames.
