TEMPE, Ariz.--- No. 11 ranked Washington upset No. 5 Arizona State University, 193.05-192.75 in gymnastics Friday in front of 1,044 fans at Wells Fargo Arena. The Sun Devils are now 3-1 on the season and fall to 0-1 in Pacific-10 Conference action.
Junior Ashley Kelly of ASU won the all-around with a score of 39.425. Washington's Carly Dockendorf took second (39.125). Senior Kari Muth of ASU was third (38.225).
ASU's Kelly won vault, posting a 9.875. Sophomore April Boone of ASU finished second (9.85) while Nikki Waiss of Washington was third (9.775). The Sun Devils scored a season low 48.1 on vault, counting a fall while the Huskies posted a 48.6.
ASU's Cassandra Jusino and Washington's Dockendorf tied for first on uneven bars (9.825). Muth and Lauren Powell of ASU tied for third with identical 9.8's. The Sun Devils recorded a season-high 48.8 on bars while Washington posted a team score of 48.05.
Kelly, the defending national champion on beam, won the event with a score of 9.925, tying a season-high. Boone posted a career-high 9.825 on beam, good for second- place. Muth was third (9.775).
Jusino won the floor exercise, posting a 9.875. Kelly took second (9.85) while Dockendorf was third (9.825). ASU was forced to count a fall and posted a team score of 47.325. The Huskies posted a 48.525.
The Sun Devils travel to Tucson on Friday, January 21 to face arch-rival Arizona at 7:30 p.m. at the McKale Center.
