TEMPE, Ariz. - Despite a three run rally in the top of the ninth inning, Arizona State (44-15) was unable to come up with a win as the Texas Longhorns (44-19) defeated the Sun Devils 9-7.

With the win, Texas has won its 26th Regional Championship, their first since 1993. The loss eliminated Arizona State from the postseason and Texas goes on to face Penn State in a Super Regional.

Texas pitcher Ryan France went four-plus innings giving up only three runs on six hits with three walks and one strikeout. Beau Hale, who pitched a complete game against ASU yesterday, earned his first save of the season, striking out two batters in two-thirds of an inning.

Offensively for Texas catcher and All-Tournament MVP, Ryan Hubele went 1-for-5, but drove in three runs on a home run over the leftfield wall. The Longhorns were also led by designated hitter Sam Anderson who went 2-for-4 with two RBI with one run scored.

For the Sun Devils, catcher Casey Myers, went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run scored. Myers hit his 18th home run of the year in the third inning. First baseman Jeff Phelps went 2-for-5 with two RBI.

Starting pitcher Jon Switzer picked up the loss. Switzer went two-plus innings giving up six runs on eight hits with one strikeout.
