Texas Head Coach Augie Garido:
"I think this win belongs to the players. I don't want to take the energy and enjoyment from them. As a coach when you do win, you get more credit than you deserve. I am proud and happy for them. I am very pleased with what happened."
"The difference in hitting for us was that we got more timely hitting. We got on base to lead off most of the time, our bunts were successful most of the time. We put it all together and capitalized on their mistakes. I am happy for our players."
"This season we have fought hard in tough losses, and it has made them better. It is an important step forward."
"There was no let down in competitiveness and will to win. The desire was there and that is what happens with championship teams. The players did what they needed to do."
Texas Pitcher Ryan France:
"Beau (Hale) told me this afternoon that his fate lied in my hands. I guess it was poetic justice that he got to come on and finish the game and decide his own fate."
"It was a total team effort. It takes six or seven quality arms to win, sometimes more. We pitched our hearts out."
Texas Catcher Ryan Hubele:
"I am really excited. It was exciting going home and playing in front of the home crowd."
Texas Player Eric Tomlinson:
"Arizona State has a great hitting team. I tip my hats to them. They hit the ball well."
"I just focused on throwing strikes. Throwing strikes gets people out. Things fell my way tonight."
Arizona State Head Coach Pat Murphy:
"All the credit goes to Texas. They showed up and were not to be denied. They hit the ball where we weren't, played exceptional defense and pitched very well."
"I also credit our team. For those of you who followed us, you know the adversity this team has been through. We've lost virtually our pitching staff and still battled and won the conference. They are to be commended for a tremendous season."
"Unfortunately we didn't play very well. We played very inexperienced, we played emotionally, we played very youthful."
"I'm very proud of our club, especially these two guys sitting next to me (Casey Myers, Jon Switzer). This guy (Myers) is the best college baseball player in America. Behind the scenes he has been incredible."
"I thought their offense was great. They took advantaged of an inexperienced infield for us. Their type of offense really exploited us and their pitching was exceptional. They've got a chance to play for a long time."
"Both games kind of reminded me of 1997 against Miami when we had the winning runs at the plate. Every year is a disappointment if you don't win a national championship. At Arizona State that's how it is, if you don't win it it's a disappointment."
"I don't know if anyone understands our inexperience, injuries, adversity, but they battled their butts off to win the conference, and it's a pretty good conference."
Arizona State Catcher Casey Myers:
"It's a huge disappointment. Our goal was to get to the College World Series and going out in this matter really hurts down deep."
Arizona State Pitcher Jon Switzer:
"My ankle was a little bit swollen, but I don't think it affected me today. There was no pain, it wasn't an issue.
Arizona State Third Baseman Mel Stocker:
"They've just got great pitching. You've got to tip your hats to them. They played very well against us."
