Arizona State Head Coach Pat Murphy:
"The thing I was most pleased with tonight was the crowd. We had a lot of things go our way. We got confidence from this game heading into tomorrow."
"In all the years I have been doing this, I have always said to win the first game no matter what."
"They (Miami) were nervous early. Things went our way. Their starting pitcher has thrown 10 complete games this season. I think he was a little nervous with the first few pitches he threw."
"Will (Waldrip) has been good lately. He has been nursing that sore elbow, and it was nice to see him come in and do a nice job."
Arizona State Catcher Casey Myers
"Jon (Switzer) had pretty good stuff early on. He had good velocity, even though he wasn't in that long. Will (Waldrip) had good stuff going. He did a great job today."
"Offense is contagious. Once we got rolling, we had a great offensive approach. We were making good pitches, laying off the bad ones and taking advantage of the good ones."
Arizona State Left Fielder Mitch Jones:
"We wanted to come out early and put runs on the board. When we do that we are able to do the thing we want on offense, like hit and run. We get to do the things we want on offense."
Miami Head Coach Tracy Smith:
"They (Arizona State) are an aggressive team with tremendous hitting. When you are not throwing strikes and put guys on base you can't pitch well from behind. Give them credit, they swing the bat. We didn't do our job on the hill."
