Box Score

SAN ANTONIO, Tex. - Seniors Kristine Sand (Oslo, Norway) and Kitch Kitchen (Newark, N.J.) each tallied double figures in scoring to lead the Sun Devils to a 70-35 victory over the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners Sunday night at the Convocation Center in San Antonio, Texas. ASU improved to 7-1 on the season, its best start since the 1991-92 season, and has won four straight games, the longest winning streak since the 1992-93 Sun Devil squad strung together victories over Washington, Washington State, Arizona and Oregon.

Arizona State dominated the entire game en route to its largest victory of the season and the biggest road win since defeating New Mexico 91-36 during the 1992-93 season. The Sun Devils opened the game on a 9-0 run, keyed by a trio of layups and a three-pointer by freshman Sarah Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio). The Roadrunners narrowed that margin to 9-8 with an 8-0 run of their own, but the Sun Devils would never let them get that close again in the ball game. ASU quickly built a double-digit lead on 53.6 percent shooting in the first stanza and held a 41-20 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, Kitchen fueled the Sun Devil offense with seven points in the team's 9-0 run to open the stanza. ASU increased their lead to as many as 38 points in the second half, while Kitchen scored 11 of her 13 points after the break.

Arizona State fielded a complete team for the first time all season with the return of junior guard Aubrey McFadyen (Redmond, Wash.) who had missed all but the first two games of the season with a broken rib and the ASU debut of freshman guard Brett Leonard (Glenview, Ill.), who had missed the first seven games recovering from shoulder surgery, and sophomore guard Rainy Crisp (Shiprock, N.M.), who transferred from New Mexico State at the end of the first semester last year.

Sand led the squad with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting, while sophomore Leah Combs pulled down a season-high eight rebounds.

The Sun Devils complete their trip to the Lone Star State with a game at No. 25 Texas Tuesday night. Tip-off at the Frank Erwin Center is scheduled for 7 p.m. Central time, while a live broadcast of the game can be heard on KTKP 1280 AM or at www.thesundevils.com.
