Junior outside hitter Amanda Burbridge tallied a match-high 22 kills as Arizona State defeated the Washington Huskies, 3-0, in Seattle, Wash. before a crowd of 687 tonight. Game scores were 15-9, 15-11, 15-8.
Four Sun Devils ended the match in double figures in kills including outside hitter Jami Coughlin (14), and middle blockers Jamie Peck (12) and Laura Hibsman (11). Defensive specialist Darice Smith led the squad defensively with a match-high 11 digs. Peck led the Devils with five blocks on the night while Hibsman led the squad with a .588 hitting percentage (11-1-17).
The Huskies were led by outside hitter Paige Benjamin (16 kills) who replaced Kristina Laffling in the first game after Laffling went down with an ankle injury. Middle blocker Lisa Underhill added 14 kills followed by Allison Richardson's 12.
Arizona State hit .341 for the match, their best hitting percentage since the Oregon match when they hit .419. Washington was held to a .230 hitting percentage for the evening.
