TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's soccer team kept their NCAA Tournament hopes alive with a convincing 4-1 win over Washington State in Pullman, Washington today. The 11th win of the year ties ASU all-time record for wins in a single-season.
ASU scored its first goal in the 23rd minute by freshman Holly Cohen. She received a through ball from junior Karine Inoue and stuck it into the left corner of the net. Washington State would tie the game in the 32nd minute when their corner kick hit the cross bar and bounced out to Deka Dewitt, who then shot it pass ASU goalkeeper Erin Reinke from six yards out.
The game would remain tied into the 79th minute when the Sun Devils unloaded three goals in five minutes. Sophomore Stacey Tullock nailed a free kick past the WSU keeper to earn her fourth game-winning goal of the year. Just two minutes later in the 82nd minute, Tullock hit a penalty kick to put ASU up 3-1. The two-goal performance by Tullock was her sixth on the year and gives her 16 total.
