TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's soccer team upset 21st-ranked Iowa State Cyclones, 3-1, Friday night at the Sun Devil Soccer Stadium.
The Sun Devils (5-2) tallied three goals on only eight shots and again received outstanding goaltending from junior Erin Reinke. After the Sun Devils jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a Stacey Tullock goal in the 14th minute, Reinke provided spectacular saves often going horizontal in midair to keep the ball out of the net. One shot, ISU's Annie Henley's header off a free kick, did manage to get by Reinke for the Cyclones (7-2) only goal of the game. In the second half, Tullock notched her conference leading eighth goal on a penalty kick in the 54th minute. Tullock has contributed two goals in each of her last three games. Defender Jaclyn Clark closed out the scoring with a rocket 20-yards out from the far side of the box off a Kim Wagner corner kick in the 64th minute.
The Sun Devils are on an all-time best four game winning streak and in those four games have outscored their opponents 14-2.
The three goals given up by Iowa State's goalkeeper Lynley Hilligoss was the most she has given up this season.
The Sun Devils next action will be home against Northern Arizona, September 29 at 7:00 p.m. at the Sun Devil Soccer Stadium.
