TEMPE, Ariz. - Sophomore All-American midfielder Stacey Tullock scored two goals and assisted on the third to lead Arizona State (3-2-0, 1-0-0 Pac-10) over Michigan State (1-3-2, 0-0-0 Big Ten), 3-1 this afternoon at Old College Field in East Lansing, Michigan.
Both teams were held scoreless until Tullock tallied her first goal in the second half at the 51:38 mark off of a foul kick. The Spartans then answered in the 64th minute to tie the match.
However, Tullock posted her second goal and team-leading fourth when she was awarded a penalty kick at the 73:29 mark. It was Tullock's first game-winner of the year and her school-leading fifth all time.
The Sun Devils would clinch the match in the 88th minute when freshman forward Holly Cohen, after receiving a pass from Tullock, nailed the back of the net.
Arizona State outshot Michigan State 12-10 with Tullock posting seven of the shots. Erin Reinke had another stellar outing in goal, allowing one score with six saves.
Arizona State returns home for four consecutive games, beginning Friday, September 17 at 7:00 p.m. with a showdown against UNLV.
