- After heavy rains delayed the 2006 Judi Garman Classic, the #10 Sun Devil Softball Team was finally able to play its game against the host-team, Cal State Fullerton, which saw the Devils pull themselves back on track topping the Titans 4-2 as the Devils jump to 29-3 on the season.
The game was a gritty, even contest in cold, wet conditions, with the Devils scoring all their runs in the first inning with huge base hits from Jackie Vasquez, Mindy Cowles and Heidi Knabe knocking in four, which proved to be all the Devils would need as the Titans could only answer with two of their own.
The Devils looked back in form in the first as they brought in four runs off of three singles, an error and great base running by the Devils as Jackie Vasquez, Kaitlin Cochran, Mindy Cowles and pinch-runner Delenah Langley all made it home to give the Devils a 4-0 lead against the Titans.
The Titans stormed back though, adding one off an error in the third and one off a single and double in the fourth, cutting the Devils lead 4-2. The Devils were shut down on offense the rest of the game, though this caused no problems for the Devils as Desiree Serrano came in to relieve Ashley Werschky in the fourth inning and gave up no hits while sending five Titans back to the dugout swinging.
The Devils are now 28-3 and will continue on in the Judi Garman Consolation bracket tomorrow where they are set to take on the loser of the and Louisiana-Lafayette game at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow in .
