OJAI, Calif.-- The Arizona State Women's Tennis team had a stellar outing in both Championship and Invitational doubles play on Friday, advancing three teams to Saturday's Semifinals.
The Devils dazzled in women's Championship doubles play, round of 16, as Micaela Hein and Kelcy McKenna battled it out against Oregon pair Ceci Olivos and Pavlina Smatova, narrowly defeating the Ducks 9-8. Sisters Laila Abdala and Nadia Abdala followed suit, executing an assault on Arizona's Natasha Marks and Claire Riestch 8-5.
The round of 16 in Invitational doubles play saw the Arizona State team shine as Michelle Brycki and Ali Van Horne swiftly defeated Oregon's Claudia Hirt and Madelie van Rensburg 8-4.
In Championship doubles Quarterfinals, Hein and McKenna continued to display stellar athleticism as they took down Cal's Bojana Bobusic and Stephany Chang 8-6. UCLA's Ashley Joelson and Nina Pantic couldn't pull away from Laila and Nadia Abdala, as the ASU duo triumphed 9-7.
The Quarterfinals of Invitational doubles saw the Devils advance Michelle Brycki and Ali Van Horne past USC's Cristala Andrews and Lyndsey Kinstler 8-6. However, the road would come to and end for Ashlee Brown and Sianna Simmons as they fell to Isa Marie Perez and Jennifer Yen 8-6.
