Cseresnyes Loses in Final of Tennis Classic
TEMPE, Ariz.-- Cal's Esther Knox outlasted ASU senior Reka Cseresnyes 7-6 (5), 7-5 in a hard-fought match to capture the 1997 ASU/Miss Karen's Fall Classic singles championship Sunday at the Whiteman Tennis Center.
In doubles action, Knox and teammate Claire Curren defeated Pac-10 rival Karolina Bakalarova and Veronika Safarova of USC 8-4 to take the doubles championship.
In the singles consolation, New Mexico State's Simone Bock downed Nadine Rastetter of Pepperdine 6-3, 6-2. Long Beach State's Jing Chen and Sara Arguilla claimed the doubles consolation with an 8-3 win over Pepperdine's Annabel Rognon and Yael Tobi.
