Cseresnyes, Giardino Advance in Doubles of ITA All-American

TEMPE, Ariz.-- ASU senior Reka Cseresnyes and sophomore Kerry Giardino defeated the Wake Forest team of Hiete and Aydin in straight sets (6-1, 6-4) of the doubles qualifier at the ITA All-American in Los Angeles Wednesday.

However, the duo of ASU freshman Celena McCoury and junior Alison Nash fell to its ACC foe, the Duke team of Webb and Sanderson, 7-5, 2-6, 6-4. In addition, Nash was defeated 6-2, 6-7(6), 6-1 by Maria Pavlidou of Arkansas in the third round of singles back draw qualifying action.

The event, which concludes Thursday, is being hosted by the Riviera Tennis Club and is the second leg of the Rolex/ITA Collegiate Grand Slam.

Thursday's main draw action will feature Cseresnyes (ranked 14th nationally) up against Amy Jensen of California. The Sun Devil doubles team of senior Stephanie Lansdorp and junior Katy Propstra (sixth) will face Boise State's Buskens and McManus in the main draw doubles competition.

QUALIFYING DOUBLES:
Cseresnyes/Giardino (ASU) def. Hiete/Aydin (Wake Forest), 6-1, 6-4
Webb/Sanderson (Duke) def. McCoury/Nash (ASU), 7-5, 2-6, 6-4
