Soccer Player Invited to National Team

Jennifer Peterson to participate in training camp April 12-19.

TEMPE, Ariz. - The United States Soccer Federation has invited Arizona State's Jennifer Peterson to participate in the upcoming Under-20 National Team Training Camp to be held in Waco, Texas, April 12-19.

Peterson, a 6-foot forward on the soccer team, is one of only 22 women invited to attend this prestigious camp.

"We (coaches) believe J.P. is National Team caliber and expect her to open some eyes at this camp," says head coach Terri Patraw. "It's a well deserved opportunity for her, and at the same time will also bring good exposure for our program."

The United States Soccer Federation (USSF) is the National Governing Body for soccer and falls under the auspices of the United States Olympic Committee and the Federation International de Football Association (FIFA).

This training camp that Peterson will attend is the third of the year for this group which is preparing to defend it's title in the Nordic Cup this August in Holland. The Nordic Cup is equivalent to the World Championships for Under-20 Women.

Arizona State will begin its 1998 campaign with a home opener against Grand Canyon University on August 28 at Sun Devil Soccer Field.
