A WEEK AGO: Despite playing underneath the lights for the first time at Sun Devil Soccer Field, Arizona State came away with an impressive 5-1 win over UTEP. Scoring first for ASU was freshman Jaclyn Clark with assists from Aisha Thomas and Jessica Bohl. At the 20th minute, Sun Devil midfielder Antoinette Marjanovic took a pass from Clark and nailed the shot for a 2-0 lead. The UTEP keeper attempted to stop the shot, but ended up in the goal with the ball. The Devils would take a 3-0 advantage on a crossing pass from Tricia Steiner to Erin McGinnis at the 33rd minute. Six minute later, Jessica Bohl would score on another crossing pass, this time from Marjanovic, to give Bohl her first career goal. At the 44th minute, Marjanovic would strike again, this time lifting a shot over the UTEP keeper for an unassisted tally. ASU would take a 5-0 lead into the second half, but their bid for a shutout was ended with just 37 seconds left when UTEP scored on a cross from the left corner. The Sun Devils outshot the Miners 16-12. ASU keeper Erin Reinke stopped seven shots.

WELCOME BACK: The ASU soccer program received some great news when local standout Stacey Tullock returned to Arizona after a short time in South Bend, Indiana. Tullock, one of the most highly recruited players in the nation, intially signed a full-ride scholarship with national powerhouse Notre Dame, but decided to attend ASU instead. Tullock was a two-time team captain at Thunderbird High School in Phoenix where she garnered 4A Player of the Year honors, as well as earning all-state MVP status in '97. Additionally, Tullock was selected to the all-state and all-region first-teams and set the Thunderbird school record for goals scored in one season with 65. Tullock showed her dominance again at the '97 state cup final when she scored all three goals for her team in a 3-0 whitewashing. Tullock will redshirt this season and join the team next year with four years of eligibility remaining.

REINKE IN GOAL: Despite sitting out most of last season with a head injury, redshirt freshman Erin Reinke has been a solid fixture in goal for ASU this year. In six games, Reinke has made 33 saves, allowed only five goal and collected two shutouts. Her 0.83 goals against average ranks her sixth in the West region and third in the Pac-10. Additionally, Reinke's 33 saves ranks her third in the conference.

CABLE READY: FOX Sports Arizona will be broadcasting the September 28th Arizona State versus New Mexico match on a tape delayed basis. The game will be shown on Tuesday, September 30, at 11 a.m. with a replay on Friday, October 3, at 3 p.m.

TWO OF A KIND: Part of the ASU success this season can be attributed to freshmen Karine Inoue and Jaclyn Clark. To this point, both players have each contributed three goals, two assists and have combined for 25 shots. Inoue, a forward from Laguna Hills, Calif., also has a game-winning goal to her credit. Clark, a native of Rochester Hills, Mich., plays both forward and defense has scored a goal in three of the past four games.

THE CROATIAN SENSATION: Just six games into the '97 season, freshman midfielder Antoinette Marjanovic has already set the school record for most goals scored (5), total points (12) and game-winning goals (2). The Mayfield Senior product from Los Angeles, Calif., was the youngest and first American-Croatian to play on the Croatian National women's team. Marjanovic's 12 points and five goals ranks her third and fourth in the Pac-10 respectively. She has also scored at least one point in four of the five Sun Devil wins, including back-to-back two goal games.

QUICK KICKS: ASU's six goals scored against Utah State is the most ever ... the four goal margin of victory over Utah State and UTEP is the largest ever ... ASU has scored 11 goals in the past two matches ... the Sun Devils have outscored their opponents 10-2 in the first half ... ASU has broke seven team records so far this year ... sophomore forward Sarah Blaska's three assists ties her for fourth in the Pac-10 as well as tying ASU's career record ... in addition to being the first defeat of the year against Utah, it also marked the first overtime loss for ASU ... New Mexico is off to its best start in school history with a 6-1 record ... ASU fell to New Mexico 0-2 last year at the Lobo Women's Soccer Classic ... this will be the first meeting between ASU and Creighton.
