ASU Soccer Beats NAU In Exhibition

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's soccer team beat first-year program Northern Arizona University 5-1 in an exhibition game Friday night at Sun Devil Soccer Field. In front of 523 fans, sophomore Aisha Thomas turned her first career hat trick, scoring two unassisted goals and then taking a feed from freshman Karine Inoue for another. The Sun Devils, in its second year as a program, received its first goal from sophomore Jill Rivard at the 7:00 mark. After NAU's Rebekah Breech hit a chip shot over goalie Amy Moxley to tie the game, Thomas added three consecutive goals. Rounding out the scoring for ASU was freshman Erin McGinnis, who blasted a shot past the NAU keeper. The time of the goal was 71:17. ASU sprayed the Jacks with 30 shots, while NAU had nine.
Senior Amy Moxley had two saves for the Sun Devils in her first action back since going down in the third game last season with an knee injury. Sophomore Erin Reinke, who also went down with early season-ending injury last year, played the second half in goal and made three saves. The Sun Devils next action is in Boulder, Colorado when they take on the Buffaloes August 29.
