Sun Devils Fall to Montana, 3-1

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State soccer team (7-4-0, 1-0-0 Pac-10) ended its six-game homestand with a 3-1 loss to Montana (8-5-0, 0-0-0 BSC) Sunday at Sun Devil Soccer Field.

Sophomore midfielder Kim Wagner fed sophomore midfielder Jill Rivard at the 19:15 mark for ASU's only goal, and the only goal of the first half. Wagner took a corner kick and Rivard cleanly headed the ball past the goalkeepeer. This was Rivard's first goal of the 1997 season.

The Grizzlies came out fired up in the second half, outshooting the Sun Devils 10-1. All three Montana goals were scored by forward Karen Hardy.

Sun Devil goalkeeper Erin Reinke had five saves, while Montana's goalkeeper stopped one shot.

The Sun Devils resume Pac-10 play October 17, at Washington, and October 19, at Washington State. ASU will return home Friday, October 24, to face Oregon State at 7 p.m.
