Sun Devils Shutout Oregon, 2-0

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State women's soccer team (10-5-0, 4-1-0 Pac-10) notched its fifth shutout of the season, and its second of the weekend, by defeating the University of Oregon (4-12-1, 1-5-0 Pac-10), 2-0 Sunday at Sun Devil Soccer Field.

The first half was defensive battle for both teams and remained scoreless, but the Sun Devils came out fired up in the second half.

ASU's first goal was an unassisted score from freshman midfielder Jessica Bohl at the 70:48 mark. Bohl dribbled past the Duck defender to have a one-on-one with Oregon's goalkeeper. Just minutes earlier, Bohl put a shot off the cross bar that missed by inches.

Sophomore defender Marianne Simmons and freshman forward Karine Inoue fed sophomore forward Aisha Thomas at the 76:48 mark for the Sun Devils' second goal.

Sun Devil goalkeeper Erin Reinke had three saves while Oregon's keeper stopped nine shots. This was Reinke's fifth shutout of the season. The Sun Devils outshot the Ducks 21-7.

This is the second time this season that ASU has recorded back-to-back shutout as they recorded a pair against Colorado and Wyoming.

The Sun Devils travel to Southern California next weekend to take on USC on October 31, and UCLA on Nov. 2.
