Sun Devils Shutout by Bruins, 3-0
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The Arizona State women's soccer team (11-6-0, 5-2-0 Pac-10) fell to the 22nd ranked UCLA Bruins (15-2-0, 7-0-0 Pac-10), 3-0 today at Spaulding Field in Los Angeles, California.
ASU, who upset 19th ranked USC on Friday, could only muster eight shots compared to the Bruins 25. Both teams held each other scoreless in the first half, but UCLA tallied three goals in the second half to extend their undefeated Pac-10 mark to seven games.
This was only the second shutout suffered by the Sun Devils this season. Sun Devil keeper Erin Reinke made seven saves.
Arizona State returns home to close out the 1997 season with a pair of crucial matches against the Bay Area schools at Sun Devil Field next weekend. ASU will face Stanford on Friday, November 7 at 4:30 p.m., then finish the season with a match against California on Sunday, November 9, at 12:00 p.m.
