Women's Golfer Miriam Nagl Named Freshman Of The Year

TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State freshman Miriam Nagl has been named National Golf Coaches Association Freshman of the Year. The Berlin, Germany, native also earned a spot on the All-America first team, marking the 49th time a Sun Devil has garnered All-America accolades.

The Pac-10 Conference Freshman of the Year, Nagl won two tournaments this season including the NCAA Fall Preview in September and the NCAA West Regional in May. She garnered top 10 finishes in all 10 tournaments leading up to the NCAA Championships and finished tied for 25th at the national tournament.

Nagl leapt to the top of the national rankings after winning the NCAA Fall Preview in September and spent the rest of the season ranked No. 1 or 2. She finished the season with a 72.5 stroke average to lead the Sun Devils this season.
