CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Arizona State women's golf team is in sixth place after the first round of the 2003 Pac-10 Conference Championships, being held April 24-26 at the par 72, 6,160-yard Trysting Tree Country Club.
The Sun Devils carded a 13-over par 301 in Thursday's first round and stand 10 strokes off the lead and just three out of third place. California leads the Pac-10 Championships after carding a three-over 291 in the first round. USC is second at six-over 294 followed by UCLA (298), Arizona (299) and Washington (300).
Individually, senior Blair O'Neal leads the Sun Devils and is eighth after carding a one-over 73 in the first round. Senior Ga?lle Truet is tied for 14th at three-over 75, while true freshman Alissa Kuczka is tied for 19th after shooting a four-over 76 in the first round. Senior Melanie Hunt shot a 77 on Thursday and is tied for 24th, while sophomore Erin Tone carded an 85 and is tied for 55th. True freshman Meredith Jones, who is playing as an individual, is tied for 52nd after carding an 82 on Thursday.
California's Sarah Huarte and USC's Mikaela Parmlid are tied for the tournament lead after carding two-under 70s in Thursday's first round.
Friday's second round will tee off at 8:30 a.m., while the 2003 Pac-10 Championships wrap up Saturday with the final round teeing off at 8 a.m. Live scoring is available for the 2003 Pac-10 Women's Golf Championships at www.golfstatlive.com.
