TEMPE, Ariz.—Arizona State women’s golf continues its tradition for attracting top international players to its program. Head coach Melissa Luellen announced today that Sophia Zeeb has signed a letter of intent to study at ASU and play golf for the Sun Devils.
Zeeb, a native of Germany, finished birdie-birdie to edge out World Junior Golf Ranking’s top- ranked female for the individual title at the 2012 American Junior Golfer Tournament in St. Augustine, Fla. In the Baden-Württemberg team championship, Zeeb shot a career-low and new course record of 67 strokes at the Schloss Langenburg Country Club in Germany.
Most recently, Zeeb finished in 15th place in the 2013 German International Ladies Amateur Championship. In 2012, Zeeb finished in fourth place at the Platz DM Mädchen AK 16 (German Girls under 16). In 2011, she earned a second place finish at the Platz DM Mädchen AK 16 as well as a 10th place finish at the German Junior Masters.
“Sophia is very talented, has a great work ethic, and is very stoic on the course,” said Luellen. “She will help in replacing the four seniors we are losing this season. Sophia and I are both excited that she is now a Sun Devil.”
