OPELIKA, Ala. - The Arizona State women's golf team wrapped up the first day of competition at the NCAA Championships with sophomore Alissa Kuczka (Phoenix, Ariz.) leading the way at a four-over-par 76 to sit in a tie for 58th. The Sun Devils as a team stand at 22-over-par (310) to put them in 24th place at the par-72, 6,215-yard Grand National Lake Course.
Freshman Tiffany Tavee (Gilbert, Ariz.) and junior Erin Tone (Gilbert, Ariz.) are just behind Kuczka as each shot a five-over 77, placing them in a tie for 68th. Freshman Charmaine Erasmus (Bradenton, Fla.) is in a tie for 105th at eight-over (80) while freshman Lindsay Anderson (El Paso, Texas) is tied for 115th at 10-over (82).
Leading the individual competition after the first day in Opelika is Ohio State's Ashley Hanna at three-under (69), while the team competition is led by Oklahoma State, which shot even par as a squad with a 288. Three more days of competition remain at the NCAA Championships. The Sun Devils tee off on day two at 12:30 p.m. in a pairing with New Mexico and Tennessee.
