Women's Golf to Compete in Rolex Fall Preview

The Arizona State women's golf team, ranked No. 1 in the preseason MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings, travels to the Rolex Fall Preview, hosted by the University of Wisconsin, Friday, September 12 through Sunday, September 14 at the University Ridge Golf Course. The course is a par 72 (6,033 yards). Tee times will be at 8 a.m. and noon from the No. 1 and No 10 tees. The University of Arizona won the event last year (307-298-310--915) while Arizona State placed fourth shooting a three-day total of 939. Individually for the Devils, Kellee Booth finished ninth (80-76-76--232) while Jeanne-Marie Busuttil tied for 14th (80-78-76--234). Jody Niemann tied for 17th (79-79-77--235).
RECAP: The Arizona State golf team won the 1997 NCAA Championship to cap off the 1996-97 season. ASU has won five of the last eight NCAA Championships. The Devils also picked up tourney wins at the NCAA West Regional and the GolfWorld/Palmetto Dunes Collegiate. Kellee Booth and Jeanne-Marie Busuttil earned second-team All-America honors. Booth was named a GTE first-team Academic All-American. Four Sun Devils made the Pacfic-10 All-Conference team for 1997: junior Kellee Booth (first-team), Jeanne-Marie Busuttil (second-team), Jody Niemann (honorable mention) and Keri Cornelius (honorable mention). Head coach Linda Vollstedt was honored as GolfWeek's National Collegiate Coach of the Year.
