TEMPE, Ariz.-- Arizona State senior Stephanie Freeman and freshman Leaf Newman received All-Conference honorable mention acclaim by the Pac-10 today, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced.
Freeman, a 5-foot-10 forward from Austin, Texas, was named Honorable Mention All-Pac-10. The Sun Devils' leading scorer this season, Freeman averaged 14.3 points a game and closed out her career Saturday as ASU's second all-time steals leader (231). She averaged a Pac-10 best 3.0 steals and 4.4 rebounds. The league honors are Freeman's first.
Newman, a 5-foot-9 guard out of Perris, Calif., received Honorable Mention Pac-10 All-Freshman status. Newman saw action in all 27 of ASU's games, averaging 16.3 minutes per contest. She averaged 6.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.
ASU finished tied for seventh in the Pac-10 with Washington State, improving on last year's ninth-place effort. The Sun Devils (10-17 overall, 6-12 Pac-10) also recorded their most overall (10) and conference (6) wins since the 1992-93 season this year.
