Arizona State Women's Basketball Meets the Media

ASU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH CHARLI TURNER THORNE

* On Team Chemistry
"Our team chemistry is fantastic. With just two weeks of practice, I never would have thought we wouldbe this prepared. I credit the team with that."

* On The Season
"We are going to be successful, and we're enjoying the process. I have no expectations. I have no idea how many games we are going to win. We have a great group."

* On The Schedule
"Our schedule is a little tougher than past years. It'll be good for us. I like a tough schedule. It's going to challenge us early, which I think will be good."

"It's a good schedule to show a young team what it will take at a high level. We're going to know exactly how good we are. We are playing teams that will expose us."

* On Recruiting
"Our first priority is signing the best players in the state. It is so much easier and a huge advantage for us to sign in-state kids. I am very excited about the young talent coming up in our state."

* On Being A Young Team
"I believe we have the most accelerated incoming class in the country. We talked to them every week last year. We started the process early."

"A lot will depend on the older players and how they lead.These girls can learn quickly and have a good season."

"Everybody we brought in is used to winning. They're winners, and they're not going to accept losing."

"Our toughest opponent this year is going to be ourselves. If we keep that in mind I think we can do quite well."

ASU FRESHMAN GUARD EBONY EDWARDS

* Advice To High School Athletes
"Stay focused, never give up, try your hardest, and do the best you can. If you believe you can do it, then you can.There are hard times for everyone. You just have to keep your head up."

* On Her New Environment
"I'm staying in the dorm; all the freshmen have to. I've gotten pretty used to the campus. I'm not homesick at all."

"I haven't been back to Chandler yet. I have to go back. I hope they do real well."

ASU SENIOR GUARD RAMEEKA LOWE

* On Being A Senior
"The role I'll play is not really vocal; I'll lead by example and do what it takes to be successful. Hopefully, I'll rub off on the younger players -- not just this year but in the years to come."

* On ASU Being Somewhat of an "Underdog"
"Being an underdog is good to me. We'll surprise a lot of people."

* On The Tough Schedule
"I think it will be good for us. It will get us ready for the Pac-10. There will be a good carryover from non-conference to the regular season."
