Arizona State Falls at UCLA, 95-73
WESTWOOD, Calif. -The Sun Devils (4-7, 0-2) remain winless in Pac-10 conference play after losing to UCLA (6-5, 1-1) 95-73 in Pauley Pavilion.
Guard Melanie Pearson, one of four Bruins in double figures, keyed a UCLA 61-point second half attack by scoring 14 of her 18 points in the game. The Bruins led just 50-44 at the 13:30 mark of the second half, after leading by two, 34-32, at intermission, when it outscored ASU 16-5 over the next 4:05 minutes to take a 66-49 advantage with 9:25 on the clock.
Pearson scored nine points in the Bruin run, including a pair of three-point shots. UCLA went on to lead by as many as 28 points, 90-62, at the 3:23 mark of the game, before settling for the final 95-73 margin.
Senior forward Stephanie Freeman (Austin, Texas) paced Arizona State with 17 points and six rebounds, while junior guard Michelle Tom (Winslow, Ariz.) added 15 points.
ASU is back in action Thursday when it hosts Washington. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in the Activity Center.
