OJAI, Calif. - Wendy Pilecka added another mark to her stellar playing career at ASU as she stepped up to win a three set match in the semifinal round of the 2008 Pac-10 Singles Inviational Bracket Saturday afternoon in Ojai. The win puts her into the championship match-up against the fourth-seeded Alex McGoodwin of UCLA to be played tomorrow morning.
Her fellow Sun Devils didn't fare as well on the day as Micaela Hein played a tough match against Alex McGoodwin in the semifinal bracket, but was edged out in a tough 7-5, 7-5 straight sets loss.
Nadia Abdala also fell on the day as she stacked up against second-seeded Amanda Fink of USC who toppled the Sun Devil 6-3, 6-2.
The sole remaining doubles team of Wendy Pilecka and Jessica Leitch also came up short as they gave Marina Cossou and Claire Ilcinkas a run for their money pushing them to a tiebreak, but falling to the Bear duo in a tough 9-8(5) loss.
The sole Devil remaining in action, Wendy Pilecka will take to the court again tomorrow as she sets to face-off in the championship match of the invitational bracket against Alex McGoodwin tomorrow at 8 a.m. in Ojai.
