FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships are currently under a weather delay as heavy rain and lightning has entered the Fayetteville, Ark., area Wednesday night at John McDonnell Field on the Arkansas campus. Several members of the Arizona State University track and field program competed earlier in the day before the weather set in and also advanced in the competition.

In the field, Sarah Stevens advanced in the shot put and hammer while Jason Lewis advanced in the hammer and Ryan Whiting in the shot put. Both Stevens and Whiting reached the automatic qualifying standard in the shot put while Lewis was the 12th and final qualifier in the hammer.

On the track, the 4x100m relay of Dominique' Maloy, Kayla Sanchez, Jasmine Chaney and Charonda Williams ran the seventh-best time on the day and advanced to the final while Williams also reached the semifinal of the 100m dash that was scheduled to be run tonight before the delay.

Maloy and Allante Battle each ran in the 100m dash, but did not advance to the semifinal, while the men's 4x100m relay of Michael Stokes, Battle, Lawrence Trice and Ray Miller also competed, but did not reach the final.

A full recap of the day's events will appear here later once the weather subsides or cancels the remainder of the day. Still scheduled to compete for the Sun Devils are a pair of 5,000m runners, including Jenna Kingma in the women's race and Brandon Bethke in the men's.
