TEMPE, Ariz. - Sophomore Amanda Burbridge pounded out a match-high 26 kills to lead the Arizona State Sun Devils to a 3-1 victory over Georgia Tech this evening in the Wells Fargo Arena. Game scores were 17-19, 15-10, 15-8, 15-13.
Junior setter Jolynn Faatulu tallied 59 assists and a match-high 18 digs on the night. Freshman outside hitter Jami Coughlin added 13 kills, 16 digs, one block solo and three block assists. Middle blocker Shawna Vanley led all blockers with seven block assists. Three Sun Devils had double figures in kills for the match.
The Yellow Jackets were led by Carla Gartner who had 20 kills, seven digs and two block assists. Middle blocker Kyleen Bell added nine kills, one block solo and five block assists.
The Sun Devils are next in action at the Airport Hilton/Sun Devil Challenge on Sept. 4-5 at the Wells Fargo Arena. ASU opens with Connecticut at 1 p.m. on Sept. 4. Admission is free.
