- ASU had won 22 consecutive victories in HOME openers prior to Saturday’s loss, which was the fourth-longest active streak in the nation.
- Jayden Daniels streak of passing attempts without an interception ended at 203 passing attempts after a third quarter interception.
- The Sun Devils fell to 0-2 to start a season for the first time since 1998.
- UCLA’s star running back Demetric Felton entered the game averaging 202.3 all-purpose yards per game this season - third in the nation and tops in the Pac-12. The Sun Devils limited the standout to just 49 total yards on Saturday.
- ASU has 17 tackles for loss and 8 sacks in the first two games this year, including 10 TFL and 5 sacks tonight. If you include the Florida State contest last season, it is 27 tackles for loss and 12 sacks in its last three games.
- After a huge debut against USC a month ago, true freshman Chip Trayanum posted the first 100-yard game of his career on Saturday as he finished with 108 yards on 15 carries (7.2 carries).
- He became the first true freshman to rush for 100 yards in a game since Demario Richard in 2014 (14 for 116 vs. Utah - the 8th game of the year). In doing so in just his second game as a Sun Devil, he became the fastest freshmen to have a 100-yard game since Keegan Herring rushed for 134 yards on 12 carries in his debut in the season opener for ASU vs. Tempe in 2005.
- Tyler Johnson is thriving in his new role, wreaking havoc on opposing quarterbacks through the first two games playing defensive end.
- With his 4.5 tackle for loss and three sack performance, Johnson becomes the first Sun Devil with four tackles for loss since Tashon Smallwood against New Mexico State in Aug. 31, 2017.
- He is the first Sun Devil with three sacks in a game since Koron Crump vs. Washington State on Oct. 22, 2016.
- The junior has two-career multi-sack games, both coming against the Bruins.
- Fellow defensive end Michael Matus has also excelled in the new defense, compiling 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks through two games this season. One of those sacks resulted in a safety, the first ASU safety since JoJo Wicker recorded one at Oregon State on Nov. 18, 2017.
- The Sun Devil defense has shown the ability to make adjustments coming out of halftime. For the second consecutive game, Arizona State shut out their opponent in the third quarter (outscoring opponents 16-0 in third quarter this season).
- Redshirt freshman Jack Luckhurst nailed his first career field goal attempt, putting the Sun Devils on the board heading into the locker room after converting on a 49-yard field goal. It represented the longest field goal by an ASU kicker since Sept. 8, 2018.
- Ricky Pearsall hit Rachaad White for a 52-yard gain on his first career attempt and completion.
- Redshirt freshman wide receiver Andre Johnson made his first career catch count, hauling a 35-yard dime from Jayden Daniels.
- Freshman running back D.J. Taylor handled kick return duties, collecting 122 return yards in his Sun Devil debut, including a 42-yard return that put the offense in good field position. He also collected his first career tackle on special teams.
