Fans attending Sun Devil Athletics’ events on Saturday, Jan. 18 and Sunday, Jan. 19 should account for additional traffic and potential road closures due to construction projects and additional events taking place in the Tempe area. Please be patient and plan accordingly to account for extra time in your commute.
 
The Sun Devil Men’s Basketball game on Saturday, Jan. 18 will be taking place during Awaken 2020 at Sun Devil Stadium, which is anticipated to draw 30-40k fans between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. All pass lots will be held for passholders, while men’s basketball general admission parking is available at Packard Structure and the Stadium Structure. Best routes to travel to and from are listed below.
 
ASU Men’s Basketball vs. Utah -- Saturday, January 18^th, 6-10 p.m.

Access to Pass Lots around Desert Financial Arena:

• Rural to University West to McCallister, south to 6^th Street to Packard Drive
• University to College Avenue North to Veterans way
• Mill Avenue to 5^th Street East to Stadium Structure or pass parking
• Priest to 5^th Street east to Desert Financial Arena
• 202, Scottsdale Rd South to Rio Salado or to University Drive West to McCallister
• 101, University West to McCallister, South on 6^th Street
• You may continue w/b at 6^th St to Veterans to get to Mill Ave

 
Rock n’ Roll Marathon -- Saturday, January 18^th, 6 – 9 a.m.
Rock n Roll Marathon 5k run taking place on Saturday, January 18^th, between 6-9 a.m. This event will result in the closure of:

• both n/b and s/b Mill Ave Bridge
• e/b Curry between Mill and College
• s/b lanes of College between Curry and Gilbert (n/b lanes open)

 
Awaken 2020 – Sun Devil Stadium -- Saturday, January 18^th, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Expected crowd attendance could range from 30 to 40 thousand (similar to an ASU football game). This is a free event with free onsite parking while it lasts. Tempe PD will be assisting ASU PD with Traffic Control.  There are no anticipated traffic closures/restrictions at this time.  
 
Rock N Roll Marathon – Sunday, January 19th: Access to Specific Locations around Tempe
 
Beginning Sunday, Jan. 19 at 5:30 a.m., there will be several road restrictions/closures in place in Tempe, Phoenix and Scottsdale.  Below are some suggested routes to impacted areas near the downtown/ASU’s Campus.  By 10 a.m., a majority of restriction on University, Scottsdale, Rural, and McClintock will be lifted in Tempe.
 
Access to Tempe PD Headquarters (5:30 am to 10 am):

• Avoid University from McClintock to Mill
• Use Ash or Farmer to 5^th Street to access Tempe PD or
• Use 202, s/b on Scottsdale, w/b on Rio, s/b on Packard, w/b on 6^th street to w/b Veterans Way

 
Access to State Farm, AC Hotel Salt, Hayden Ferry Lakeside/Bridgeview Apt.’s (5:30 am to 10 am):

• Use 202 to s/b Scottsdale Rd
• S/B Scottsdale to w/b Rio Salado
• Officers will be present to assist traffic s/b off the ramps

 
Access Desert Financial Arena, Sun Devil Stadium, Whitman Tennis Center, Fulton, Mona Plummer (5:30 am to 10 am), can be made from:

• 202 to s/b Scottsdale Rd
• w/b Rio to s/b Packard
• You may continue w/b at 6^th St to Veterans to get to Mill Ave

 
 Alternative Access to  Desert Financial Arena, Sun Devil Stadium, Weatherup, Farrington Stadium, Mona Plummer and all practice fields off 6^th and Rural (5:30 am to 10 am) can be made from:

• E/B from 5^th and Mill to one of the listed destinations
• Note: E/B 6^th at Packard is closed so if you need access to Weatherup or Farrington Softball Stadium you need to  use Packard to Rio and then s/b on Rural Road to e/b 6^th St

 
Access to the Phoenix Municipal Baseball Stadium from 5:30 am to approximately 4:30 pm:

• N/B from Priest/202
• W/B on Washington
• N/B on 56^th Street
• E/B into parking lot of Phoenix Municipal Stadium (entrance just south of Van Buren)- Someone will need to ensure this gate is accessible

• Once in the parking lot access to the Stadium should be made using the pedestrian bridge as the street will be packed with runners.
• Note: if one parks in the small lot at the Phoenix Municipal Stadium it may be difficult or next to impossible to get out.  If there are issues with that I will have an officer at Priest and Salt River Drive, just south of that parking lot that may be able to assist with egress.
