Fans attending Sun Devil Athletics’ events on Saturday, Jan. 18 and Sunday, Jan. 19 should account for additional traffic and potential road closures due to construction projects and additional events taking place in the Tempe area. Please be patient and plan accordingly to account for extra time in your commute.
The Sun Devil Men’s Basketball game on Saturday, Jan. 18 will be taking place during Awaken 2020 at Sun Devil Stadium, which is anticipated to draw 30-40k fans between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. All pass lots will be held for passholders, while men’s basketball general admission parking is available at Packard Structure and the Stadium Structure. Best routes to travel to and from are listed below.

Rock n’ Roll Marathon -- Saturday, January 18th, 6 – 9 a.m.
Rock n Roll Marathon 5k run taking place on Saturday, January 18th, between 6-9 a.m. This event will result in the closure of:
Awaken 2020 – Sun Devil Stadium -- Saturday, January 18th, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Expected crowd attendance could range from 30 to 40 thousand (similar to an ASU football game). This is a free event with free onsite parking while it lasts. Tempe PD will be assisting ASU PD with Traffic Control. There are no anticipated traffic closures/restrictions at this time.
Rock N Roll Marathon – Sunday, January 19th: Access to Specific Locations around Tempe
Beginning Sunday, Jan. 19 at 5:30 a.m., there will be several road restrictions/closures in place in Tempe, Phoenix and Scottsdale. Below are some suggested routes to impacted areas near the downtown/ASU’s Campus. By 10 a.m., a majority of restriction on University, Scottsdale, Rural, and McClintock will be lifted in Tempe.

- Note: E/B 6th at Packard is closed so if you need access to Weatherup or Farrington Softball Stadium you need to use Packard to Rio and then s/b on Rural Road to e/b 6th St
Access to the Phoenix Municipal Baseball Stadium from 5:30 am to approximately 4:30 pm:
- N/B from Priest/202
- W/B on Washington
- N/B on 56th Street
- E/B into parking lot of Phoenix Municipal Stadium (entrance just south of Van Buren)- Someone will need to ensure this gate is accessible
- Once in the parking lot access to the Stadium should be made using the pedestrian bridge as the street will be packed with runners.
- Note: if one parks in the small lot at the Phoenix Municipal Stadium it may be difficult or next to impossible to get out. If there are issues with that I will have an officer at Priest and Salt River Drive, just south of that parking lot that may be able to assist with egress.
